Monument record 6291/0/1 - Modern Tree Ring Enclosure

The sites of four adjacent oval 20th century tree ring enclosures mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Rutland Roman Villa Project which were located on a slope between the River Welland and Easton on the Hill.

{3-5} The sites of four adjacent oval 20th century tree ring enclosures mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Rutland Roman Villa Project which were located on a slope between the River Welland and Easton on the Hill. They were defined by a ditch, and were all seen as earthworks on photographs taken in 1947, but have since been levelled. They were located at SK 9967 0432, SK 9965 0443 SK 9977 0444 and SK 9981 0452 on top of medieval ridge and furrow and ranged in size from 40m x 60m to 80m x 115m .
