Full Description

{2} Part of a second interrupted circuit can be identified 60-70m within the west side of the outer circuit.
Geophysical survey produced clear anomalies representing this inner circuit. Area B2 contained several curving linear anomalies which clearly relate the the inner circuit. The anomalies would suggest that the extent of the inner circuit is understated by the cropmark; the linear anomaly at the centre of area B2 represents a substantial extension of the cropmark, and also demonstrates that the inner circuit was interrupted.

{3} Within the enclosure the survey has detected a tangled set of weak curvilinear anomalies, representing ditches of unknown date. They appear to define parts of either two or three intersecting oval-shaped enclosures, but this is not certain as the anomalies are very disjointed and indistinct. No firm date or function can be attributed to the ditches. They do not convincingly represent a henge but neither do they resemble the generally rectilinear Iron Age to Roman enclosure ditches identified elsewhere in the vicinity of Dallington Grange.
