Fallow Walk cropmarks; two parallel linear ditches
Map
Type and Period (3)
Full Description
{1} Cropmarks recorded by Hollowell in 1963; ditches;
{2} Cropmarks of 2 parallel ditches; possible continuation of ditches from RN746400; info: G.Foard (16/11/1979); aerial photos NCCAP:SP7464/003-4;
{5} Twin parallel positive anomalies detected curving through the south of the survey area are likely to represent a late prehistoric or Roman trackway. Definition of these anomalies was lost towards the west of the area where, in the south west corner, a set of rectilinear positive magnetic anomalies were indentified.
{6} Archaeological evaluation identified ditches in most of the trenches that crossed the route of the assumed trackway. Most were undated, although a pair in one of the trenches contained pottery dating to the late Iron Age/Roman period.
