Full Description

{1} Aerial photos NCCAP:SP6267/15+16+18-20+23+38+39.

{2} South east of Main Street there are at least eleven long closes extending down the hillside and again bounded by banks, scarps or ditches. The north west ends of the three northern ones are still occupied by houses and gardens, and have ridge and furrow within them. In 1771 the area to the south west of these was a single field and paddock.

{4} Archaeological observation undertaken during construction of a new house identified a single post-medieval pit and a large undated ditch aligned north-south. It is perpendicular to an east-west earthwork recorded by the RCHME in 1981 and must therefore predate it.
