Full Description

{1] Two redbrick buildings, probably of WWII date are associated with the airfield. One is virtually demolished.
[GC notes that the structures are visible on OS mapping. All these features formed part of the WWII Spanhoe airfield. Both structures lay outside the north east perimeter track of the airfield and thus toward its edge. Reference to the 1:25,00 scale Spanhoe airfield Record Site Plan, Site No 1 Airfield Sites (Air Ministry DGW 4562/44 Jan 1945) indicates that this structure is numbered 90, a 72,000 gallon bulk petrol installation, 9846/41 & 13022/42. The ASC report photograph suggests that only parts of the concrete base and walls appear to survive.]
