Full Description

{1} Open field remains - in the form of earthworks of ridge and furrow survive in parkland. Parts of at least 5 furlongs were identified.

{4} Ridge and furrow is preserved within Abington Park.

{6} Extensive areas of ridge and furrow earthworks survive east of Park Avenue.

{7} Interpretation of further earthworks identified beneath the area of ridge and furrow in the former 'nearest Clack Mill Close'. Massive bank up to 14m thick underlying ridge and furrow; further similar massive bank also identified; suggests that features form an earthwork pre-dating open fields; equates banks with possible ramparts; appears to have been used as a field boundary in 1671 map.
