Monument record 3136/3/11 - Walk

{1} Shown on 1756 Plan.

{2} Ridge and furrow traces survive together with the earthwork trace of a former hedge line. An earthwork track crosses the south part of the field.

{3} The limestone surface exposed within test pits underlying the current road surface most likely relates to an earlier phase of access road. The layer was between 0.13m to 0.15m below the top of the road. The layer was characterised by limestone fragments and cobbles with yellow sandy clay bonding material. There were signs of repair within the layer.

{4} Archaeological excavation along Lime Avenue revealed the remains of a stone revetment wall for a bridged culvert that may have pass below or close to the entrence shown on the 1756 Chester estate map.
