Full Description

{1} Northamptonshire Brick & Tile Company.

{2} The Northamptonshire Brick and Tile Co. (managed.by E.J. Brown) operated this large works from at least 1883 until about the First World War. The 1883 6" 0.S. map shows five small rectangular kilns, which may well have been out of use by that time, since a large circular Hoffmann kiln of 120' diameter is also shown. The company presumably used the canal for much of its transport requirements, and they had a wharf in Weston Street, Northampton.
