Full Description

{1} Small mid-19th century brick kiln. One 'oven' is still largely intact, the other partly demolished. Of the rest only foundations survive. A brick lined well, now filled in, served as a water source, while a number of pits in the same field presumably provided the raw materials.

{2}Partially ruined double down draught kiln.

{3} In field to south-west of Working Men's Club, off Lower Street. Remains of brick kiln which was operating around 1887. One arch still intact but largely overgrown by trees. The kiln was disused by 1901.

{4} October 2009: site has been destroyed.

{5} Operated around 1887 this small yard had a single kiln. It was disused by 1901.

{7} Remains of small 19th century brickworks - few survive in Northamptonshire today although there are others elsewhere in the region. Clay pit located approx 100 yards to north west of kiln - now filled with domestic refuge.
