Monument record 7813/1 - Midland Railway (Kettering to Huntingdon)

Summary
The Huntingdon and Kettering Railway opened in 1866. Passenger traffic ceased between Huntingdon and Kimbolton in 1959 and Twywell and Kimbolton in 1963. The Kettering - Twywell section remained open until at least the mid 1970's to serve the quarries at Islip.

Full Description
{1} Kettering and Huntingdon Line of the Midland Railway. The railway runs to the south of Thrapston and has a station. The line itself has been dismantled, but part of the alignment survives.
{3} (SP 961780 to TL 229706) Track of old railway (NAT) (Three times)
{4} The line from Thrapston to Huntingdon belonged originally to the Midland Railway. It was closed to passenger traffic on 15th June 1959 and closed entirely on 28th October 1963.
