Summary
This working single-storey shoe factory dates from circa 1908. It has an office centrepiece with neo-Baroque motifs and screen walls to north-lit sheds. The company previously occupied a site in Rushden High Street, which has not been identified.

Full Description
{1} Sanders and Saunders Boot and Shoe Factory, Spencer Road. Sanders Boot and Shoe Factory on Spencer Road is shown on early OS maps, and still in existence, but has been considerably extended. Sign on frontage 'Sanders made in England since 1872'. Fire at the factory in 1924. The original centre piece for the building exists, possibly denoting office accommodation, and consists of an elaborate doorway flanked by two bay windows. Film 16, photo 23; Film 17, photo 1-3.
