Monument record 3377 - Open Field System, Little Billing

Documentary evidence suggests that the common fields of Little Billing appear to have been enclosed between 1627 and 1685.

{5} Weston Favell glebe terrier of 1627 refers to 'Billing Field', showing that it was still open. Little Billing glebe terrier of 1685 decribes 8 acres of meadow received in payment for separate enclosed grounds, suggesting complete enclosure had occurred. The manor and parish had been purchased by William Thursby in 1681 and perhaps he enclosed it.
