Full Description
{2} Historic maps indicate a farmstead located here in 1763. During the 1840s the existing farmstead was significantly altered and extended to create a model farm of a regular courtyard E-type plan. The farmhouse, constructed of rough coursed ironstone, retains 18th century elements but is of a substantially Victorian character. The long barn to the east of the farmhouse also has 18th-century origins and was likely a threshing barn originally, but with significant later alteration. The 1840s range to the north of the farmhouse comprises cart shed/stables with lean-to, poultry house, wash house, and ancillary functions. The parallel ranges to the south comprise shelter sheds/byres constructed of rough coursed ironstone with brick dressing in the 1840s
