Full Description
{1} Detailed gradiometry has confirmed the presence of several large pit type anomalies noted during scanning. While the strength and form of these anomalies suggests an archaeological origin the lack of any associated ditches casts some doubt on such an interpretation.
There are several relatively strong ferrous type responses within the data which suggests that some of the pit like anomlies may reflect modern debris in the topsoil. Such an interpretation is perhaps supported by the relatively close proximity of an elevated section of the M1 motorway forming the southern limit of this field.
