Full Description

{1} When the original Barn Close area was exhausted, Barn Close Extension quarry to the east was developed, and opened for production on 25/08/1976. This was the site of the ancient Weldon limestone mines, and destruction of the latter upset the band of conservationists wishing to preserve the site for its historical interest.
