Full Description
{1} Archaeological evaluation was undertaken as part of a scheme of flood alleviation works. Of the eight trenches excavated across the development area, only two contained archaeological features. A possible boundary ditch of 2nd century date was uncovered towards the centre of the development area, and an undated cobble surface in a nearby trench may have been contemporary.
Although there was some evidence for Roman activity, this does not imply that this area was part of the northern suburbs. The overall paucity of finds and features indicate only low level activity.
