Full Description
{1} Archaeological evaluation comprising geophysical survey and fieldwalking survey was undertaken. The survey area is bisected broadly from north to south by a trackway clearly defined by parallel lateral ditches. The track appears to follow the curve of the contour at the edge of the floodplain and separates a series of subrectangular enclosures lying at either sides.A complex of ditches and enclosures was found in the western half of the field. The plan form of the enclosures is characteristic of Iron Age and Romano-British rural activity. A dense scatter of Romano-British pottery occurs in fields 86-7 and the southern part of field 89.
