Building record 7512/1/1 - Late C18th/C19th Farm Buildings

{1} Farm Buildings of late C18th or C19th date, all of local brick and with various original functions, survive at Arthingworth Lodge, Kelmarsh Field Farm (SP726815), Bassetts Lodge (SP718779; in Haselbech parish), Rectory Farm (SP733787), Top Lodge (SP750793) and Hall Farm (SP737794). All appear to be of the same date; they perhaps represent a major estate reorganization and improvement. Depending on the date of the buildings, possible dates for this reorganization could be after 1777 when William Hanbury II, who was said to have been ‘improving’ then, or after 1807 when William Hanbury III inherited. However, the fact that Bassetts Lodge and Rectory Farm are not mapped in 1835 may mean that the period of rebuilding is later in the C19th.
