Full Description

{1} The 1835 map suggests that there was an early C18th intention, possibly never fully executed, to plant a single line of trees in an encircling ring around the parish. Evidence of this can be seen on Mill Hill where a line of tree holes, 1 to 1.5 m in diameter, extend roughly north to south along the eastern, upper, side of a much earlier medieval double-lynchet track, and south west of Hill Top Farm where a line of tree pits runs south-west across ridge-and-furrow.
