Full Description
{1} Trial excavation on land surrounding the important Bronze Age ringwork revealed widely dispersed archaeological features including gravel quarry pits.
{2} Open area excavation revealed extensive post-medieval and modern quarrying. The pits were probably dug over a long period of time to extract both limestone and gravel. A number of residual Bronze Age and Roman artefacts were recovered from the pits, along with a post-medieval pipe-clay hair/wig curler.
