Description
{1} Open area excavation in advance of residential development uncovered evidence of Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, Saxon, medieval and post-medieval activity. Archaeological activity included a Bronze Age field system and trackway, dispersed Iron Age pits, Roman field system and post-built buildings, Saxon pits, medieval ridge and furrow and post-medieval quarrying. Trial Trenching and Watching Brief were undertaken on the Late Prehistoric ringworks and provided information on the nature and dating of the ditch and other adjacent archaeological features. It also provided information on the nature and depth of overburden above the ringwork.
