Full Description

{1} Clay extraction pits or quarries extend across the eastern part of the site, demarcating its eastern boundary as well as extending west along its northern boundary with the road. This is approximately the area mapped by BGS for Oxford Clay. Part of these workings are occupied by a pond and elsewhere are covered by thorn trees and scrub. The presence of the pond means that there will may be good potential for the preservation of waterlogged deposits, within the fills of the redundant extraction pits.
