Full Description
{1} Finds made where the St. Andrew's road cut through the castle site. These included: a very good drinking cup of black Roman ware in an excellent state of preservation; two Saxon coins bearing the name Edred, and others Roman and Saxon indecipherable; architectural remains matching the string courses and capitals at St. Peter's church; a barrowful of Roman pottery; two old bone knife handles and carved ivory and a boar's tusk; a skeleton accompanied by a spearhead and a spur in very good preservation.
