Summary
Sherds of Iron Age pottery, some described as "Belgic", were recovered from pits which were encountered during quarry working in 1967. The sherds were, in 1969, in the possession of a Mr Dix of Kettering Grammar School Archaeological Society. Excavations in 1970 revealed more extensive traces of Iron Age settlement including ditches, containing pottery and a small quantity of animal bones.

Full Description
{1} Finds consisted almost entirely of potsherds: the small quantity of animal bone recovered was poorly preserved and no metal objects were found. Most of the pottery came from the upper layers of the ditches. The 80 sherds of pottery found during the excavation came from not less than twenty vessels. The pottery suggests a time span of at least a century for the site.
