Summary

Wesleyan Methodist chapel built in 1763. Walls of coursed rubble and a slate roof, gables west front with central entrance and two upper windows with long timber lintels. It was enlarged to the east and the upper parts of the walls rebuilt in the early 19th century.

Full Description

{1} Illustration and plan; On 23 June 1763 John Wesley 'preached at the side of the new preaching-house'; he visited Whittlebury on many subsequent occasions and in 1778 called it 'the flower of all our societies in the circuit, both for zeal and simplicity'.

{2} Identified by South Northamptonshire Council as being a building of historic and/or architectural significance.
