Full Description

{1} A rectangular pit lay within enclosure (2008/0/20). Only part of this pit was seen as the remainder was beneath the trench edge. It was at least 2.15m wide and 0.2m deep with a flat base and gentle sloping sides. The pit contained a small assemblage of early/middle Anglo-Saxon pottery. Animal bone was also recovered together with a bone pin, a lead weight and fragments of an iron strip. This could be a sunken-featured building.
