Full Description

{1} A shallow butchery pit was recorded; this was aligned east to west and was 2.5m wide and up to 0.58m deep. It had a flat base and vertical sides. The pit was sealed by the topsoil suggesting that it may be a later feature. Animal bone was seen but not retained as there was a risk of the bones coming from diseased animals. Two sherds of early Anglo-Saxon pottery, considered to be intrusive, were recovered from the surface of the pit.
