Monument record 1679/143/2 - Possible Medieval/Post Medieval Demolition Debris

{3} Trial pits 5 and 6 were located potentially over the position of two buildings indicated on the 1737 Estate map. In trial pit 5 was a thin layer of limestone rubble. No finds were recovered but its proximity to the street frontage suggests that it may be of archaeological significance. A similar limestone rubble layer containing charcoal and coke was seen in trial pit 6. This may relate to the partial demolition or modification of a building located here on the 1737 map but which had been altered by the 1789 map although no finds were retrieved from the layer to confirm the date range.
