Full Description

{1} Modernist style, inter-war health/ welfare building. Rectangular single storey block with parapets and what is presumably a flat roof. This surrounds a central higher block with pitched clay tiled hipped roof. All elevations in brick with simple corner and lower wall parallel banded decoration/ rustication. Front entrance located centrally within symmetrically arranged south elevation. The front main entrance has a prominent stone surround with the date '1936' and simple scroll decorations above and to the sides. Iron, black painted rain-water goods present below the south elevation parapet; the rain-water heads with raised decorative pattern. Original front door and windows lost; modern replacements now present. Low brick wall with railings and pedestrian gate piers and gates to street; modern gated vehicle access to rear. Built in restrained Art Deco style. Statement of significance and photos.

{2} Photographic survey and drawings. Apart from the fabric of the building itself, there was little original period detail apart from a glazed transom in the entrance foyer, the tall north-facing windows in the central waiting area and two glazed hatches on the south side of the waiting area.
