Full Description

{1} This site was being worked by Wm Holt in the mid-19th century, producing bricks and tiles and chimney and garden pots in 1863. This was continued by his successor Wm Blundell, who ceased production in the 1920s. In the 1920s there were four circular down-draft kilns and a tramway to the clay pits at the north of the site. The clay pit can still be discerned as well as a long single storey brick building now surrounded by modern industrial sheds.

{2}Brickworks operated by Holt & later by Blundell; most buildings on the site were cleared during 1990/91;

{3} K.O.D. 1883-1936. This brick and tile works was operated by William Blundell. Until 1900 a small village brickyard, by 1927 it had expanded considerably now possessing four circular downdraught kilns, and a tramway to the quarry at the north end of the site. By 1940 it was abandoned.
