Full Description

{1} The brickworks were operated by George King. They comprised a kiln with two identical T-shaped buildings on either side for moulding and drying. The yard was derelict by 1901. The area is called Brickfield Spinney on 1958 OS map.

{2} Known Operating Dates: 1884-1894. This works was operated by George King who also operated Holdenby and later Nether Heyford brickyards. The plan of the works shown on the 1884 6" O.S. Map of some interest. It would appear that the plan of the works was a carefully considered one and not one that grew up in a piecemeal fashion as the yard expanded. In this layout two are to be found at the extreme south of the site, and a kiln at the north end. A road has been built to the kiln on a slightly circuitous route, probably to avoid the muddy area close to the pits. On either side of the kiln are two identical T-shaped buildings probably housing the moulding and drying floors. By 1901 the works was derelict and a spinney had been planted on the site.
