Full Description

{1} A poorly defined group of animalies which may form the edge of a cluster of settlement features.

{5} Archaeological excavation in 2013 identified a group of features in the south part of the excavation area. The date is uncertain due to an almost complete absence of datable finds. A building was defined by several lines of postholes and seems to have consisted of at least two rooms, with its east end lying beyond the limit of excavation. The method of construction suggests a medieval date. A fence-line may have defined a yard. A stone-built hearth lay within a timber-framed building. Part of a ditched field-system, possibly post-medieval, was also identified.
