Summary
Built in 1911-12 by J A Gotch for W H St John Mildmay in a Neo-Stuart style. It was reputedly let twice to the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth) in the 1920s and 1930s. Possibly used as a convalescent Hospital during WW2.

Full Description
{1} Entry from the 'Convalescent Homes And Auxiliary Hospitals' reads - "Thornby Grange, Northampton - The Hon. Mrs. St. John Mildmay."
{2} Thornby Grange was built in 1911-12 for W H St John Mildmay by J A Gotch. It is a large, Neo-Stuart house of rendered brick which has a seven-bay façade between two gabled wings. The interior, altered in the 1920s, also by Gotch, has been considerably altered.
{3} The house was redutedly let twice to the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth) in the 1920s and 1930s. The Queen Mother visited again in the 1980s.
