{1} Belonged to William Peverel

{2} Mills at Duston mentioned

{3}David Blackburn comments that the layout of the area surrounding Duston Mill was very similar in 1997 to the layout shown on Lord Palmerstone's map of 1865 - it is therefore possible that an earlier building stood along this stream.

{4} 1798 John cook given in the militia returns with one watermill at Duston capable of grinding four quarters per week.
1823 Thomas Daniel, miller, insured Duston Mill, the property of Lord Melburn, carrying two pairs of stone, built of brick and tile with dwelling house adjoining, thatch, for £150 and the standing and going machinery in the mill for a further £150.
1838 Mill had three pairs of stones.
1878 Last reference to the Daniel family as millers here.
1881 An improved flour mixer, gearing and pulleys for transmitting power to it supplied by Groom of Eastcote.
1890 Steam as well as water power used at the mill.
1894 By this time roller milling had been introduced here.
1919 Mill advertised for sale having an overshot waterwheel, roller milling plant and two pairs of stones. It sold for £1200 but never worked again.
1960s By this time gutted of all machinery but bed stones still in position.
1976 Mill demolished leaving mill-house standing.

Watercourses have been altered for flood prevention purposes. No evidence of mill buildings remain.
