Full Description
{1} Identified by South Northamptonshire Council as being a building of historic and/or architectural significance.
{2} A stone building, under a tiled roof, with several ranges. The front range is of the 19th century and has carefully cut ashlar type blocks with hoodmoulds over the windows and decoratively raised quoin stones. The rear ranges have stone voussoirs above the windows and doors. The appearance from the rear is of a 17th century building but it seems too 'clean' and may simply be a Victorian conceit to mark out the relative status of the building.
However, it is certainly of more than one phase and the internal walls and a beam on the ground floor with deep chamfers and no stops hint at a more complex history. The owners have indicated an internal stone wall which is finsihed with a 'fair face', and has the appearance of an external wall.
The upper casement windows of the rear range have good turnbuckle window catches with tulip leaf handle to the attic and a knob handle on the first floor. These are not necessarily 19th century copies.
