Full Description

{1} A limestone surface constructed from limeastone fragments and cobbles, with layers above and below containing both Roman and medieval sherds. The medieval sherd below the suface is thought to possibly originate from the same vessel as those found above the surface, which would indicate a medieval or late date for the surface. However, if the sherd is intrusive then the surface is likely to be Roman.
