Full Description

{1} The school closed in 2003 and has remained unused since then. Some demolition of later extensions to the buildings has already taken place.
The entirety of the site appears to have been farmland, probably pasture, during the post medieval period and up until the construction of Bryn Hafod in the C19th. Wicksteed chose the location for his house and gardens overlooking the 150 acres of Wicksteed Park.
The adaption of the premises for the use as a Convent by the Ursuline Sisters took place in the late 1930s, and its subsequent use by the Sisters of the Convent of Our Lady till the present. After the war the existing housing estate was extended between 1954 and 1975.
Details are presented of the documentary survey undertaken, beginning with Ralph Treswell's 1587 map.
