Full Description

{1} All three trenches contained evidence for ridge and furrow cultivation, with four furros on a NNW-SSE orientation encountered across the site. The furrows in trench 1 were approx 2.5m wide and spaced c.9m apart. One furrow was excavated and recorded as having gradual sloping sides, a flattish base and a max depth of 0.29m. Furrows in trench 3 were shallow with gradual sides and flattish bases, and measured 1.5/2.4m wide abd 0.13/0.19m deep.

{2} Medieval/post-medieval plough furrows were confirmed across the area. They were aligned north-west to south-east broadly perpendicular to Banbury Lane. A medieval origin for these features is suggested by the spacing of the selions and the reversed S-shape curve evident in their alignment.
