Monument record 3884/24/1 - Medieval boundary ditches

{1} A series of medieval boundary ditches were aligned roughly north east to south west:
A wide linear ditch 2.35m wide and 0.75m deep with uneven sloping edges leading to a narrow flat bottomed channel in the base. It is likey that the upper edges of the ditch had suffered erosion.
To the north was a linear ditch which was the latest in the sequence. It was 1.6m wide and 0.84m deep with a regular U-shaped profile and concave base. At its southern end it turned 90 degrees; this continuation of the ditch had a very different profile.
A short length of a much smaller ditch lay to the south. It was 0.8m wide and 0.38m deep with a U-shaped profile and slightly concave base. It southern edge was eroded. The data and purpose of this ditch is uncertain.
