Building record 1156/2/22 - Former Greenhouse Within Kitchen Garden Extension

Greenhouse constructed against the northern wall of the kitchen by 1926.

{5} The kitchen garden was uncovered by a major clearance operation as they were extremely overgrown. Many of the buildings had to be stripped of ivy and could not be approached because of trees and undergrowth. Some buildings had collapsed. By necessity some recording relied primarily upon written and photographic records rather than drawn. Eleven buildings were separately recorded within the kitchen garden. Plan.
Building (4), greenhouse.
Former building 12.4m x 3.7m, laid in brick to waist height, with almost no surviving timber superstructure.Once stood against the north wall of the garden, above which it was built to protrude.There had been sunken beds either side of the central pathway. More details given with photograph.
