Full Description

{1} Much of the brownfield development site has been subject to modification. Made ground is present throughout the western and central parts of the site. Typically underneath and to the west of the old bus depot buildings this is between 0.5-1.0m deep. Immediately to the north of the buildings the made ground drops sharply off to between 3m and 5m deep, suggesting backfilled quarry. This depth extends northwards almost to the northern boundary of the site.
Late C19th and early C20th maps show quarrying in the central part of the development site, with a lime kiln. This was built over in 1913 with the construction of an omnibus depot.
