Abstract/Summary
An archaeological trail trench evaluation was carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology during July 2010 on behalf of Bloor Homes Ltd. The site was located at Finedon Road on the northern edge of Irthlingborough, and comprised a parcel of land covering 3.1ha. At the time of evaluation the site was partly under brownfield conditions with factory buildings still standing. A portion of land in the eastern par of the site was undisturbed and still had standing medieval earthworks of ridge and furrow field cultivation. Seven trenches totalling 300 linear metres were excavated across the site. No significant remains were present on site, the only archaeological feature encountered was a ditch from which a single sherd of medieval pottery was recovered.
