Full Description

{1} Over bank flooding began to cover the ruinous structures with thick layers of alluvium. At least two separate, major episodes of deposition were evident. A ridge-and-furrow field system was established either contemporaneously with or shortly after the first phase of alluviation.
The ridge-and-furrow was sealed by a thick deposit of alluvium during the medieval period. The latest pottery recovered from the furrows was of 12th-13th century date. Only the easternmost ridges were not covered. This must have been caused by massive and persistent over bank flooding.
