Full Description
{2} Trench 2 was cut through a roughly rectangular platform which was faintly visible on the surface as a low earthwork. Running along the northern edge of the platform was a ditch 1.55m wide x 0.45m deep and with a V-shaped profile, splayed on its northern side. This ditch was visible on the surface to the east of the trial trench and appeared to extend beyond the eastern end of the platform. This was confirmed by the geophysical survey results which show the ditch crossing the site east-west for a distance of at least 28m.
The ditch, on the same alignment as the existing field and property boundaries that cross the site, ran along the northern edge of the possible barn platform and continued further east.
