Full Description

{1} Test Pit 10 exposed a gravel surface at a depth of 1.35m. This was cut by a small posthole 0.38m in diameter x 0.27m deep, and with a rounded base. Overlying these was a thin layer of clay on top of which was a further metalled surface of small limestone fragments, rounded pebbles and gravel. This was cut by a pit, the full extent of which lay beyond the limits of the test pit. The pit was c.0.6m deep and contained the articulated remains of a cow.
