Full Description
{1}Blocks 3,4 and 5 were located in a large field to the north of Weldon Park, over magnetic anomalies identified during scanning. Block 3 targeted a linear area of magnetic enhancement and all were spatially correlated with moderate surface scatters of tap slag. A positive north-west to south-east aligned linear feature, at its north-west end appearing as a ditch-like feature, but graduating to a strong magnetic disturbance produced by ferrous or thermoremanent material. The linear feature corresponds to a grubbed-out field boundary shown on First Edition OS mapping, its ditch filled with strongly magnetic material. To the north-east a strongly di-polar anomaly locates a large piece of ferrous or thermoremanent material, possibly a smelting furnace.
