Abstract/Summary

Magnetic scanning of 61 hectares was carried out on part of a propsed housing development at land located east of Weldon, Northamptonshire. The scan located areas of strong magnetic disturbance in fields located to the north of Weldon Park. Detailed geophysical (fluxgate gradiometer) survey of 6.1 hectares was carried out to test the results of scanning. The detailed survey defined areas of magnetic disturbance caused by iron smelting debris to the north of Weldon Park and suggest little archaeological activity has occurred west of Weldon Park.
