Full Description

{1} Block 9 targeted three anomalies located during scanning. The south-westernmost anomaly has a strong thermoremanent or ferrous dipolar response and the two easterly anomalies both show strong double dipolar peaks. These could be caused by relatively shallowly buried smelting furnaces, although a more modern origin such as ferrous mountings for WWII military installations should not be discounted. A further strong negative magnetic response on the southern boundary of the survey block was not picked up during scanning, but may be the edge of a similar discrete feature. Smaller discrete anomalies are also noted in Block 9, probably accumulations of debris related to the larger anomalies.
