Geophysical surveys identified several anomalies that may have an archaeological origin

{1} Blocks 18-21 were positioned in the westernmost field of the Phase 1 survey area to test negative scanning results. A small number of discrete dipolar “iron spike” anomalies, as elsewhere in the survey blocks, were not considered archaeologically significant. However, within Block 21 one area of magnetic enhancement that may be caused by an infilled pit is identified. However, it is relatively weak and may be caused by a deeply buried modern ferrous object, or modern intrusive activity.

{2} There are two linear anomalies orientated west-north-west to east-south-east in the eastern corner of the field. A short curvilinear anomaly is also present in the western half of this field. These features are likely to represent the partial remains of undated ditches.
