Full Description

{1} New National School erected in 1851 and enlarged in 1881, 1895 and 1909. Supported by subscription. Educational subscription was left by Mrs Montague in 1845 for the education of 12 girls of the town. Afterwards transferred to an endowment for the National School. Later became a public elementary school. The building is still in use as a school, but appears to have been altered a number of times in recent years with blocked up windows and extensions etc. Film 4, photo 19.
